It is currently designated as Minami-Boso National Park as a natural environmental zone, and most of the island is maintained and managed by Tateyama City as Okinoshima Park. The Tateyama Air Base is located nearby, and as the tidal flow changed due to the uplift of the ground, sand began to accumulate between the island and the shore, making it a land-locked island that can be crossed on foot, making it a tourist destination. During low tide, visitors can play on the shore. Crabs and hermit crabs were also found.

Manager’s Comments
The island has a lot of nature and well-maintained footpaths, so I felt it was a good place for a walk. However, since it was GW (Golden Week), there were many tourists (couples), and the cave, which was the highlight of the tour, had a long queue of couples, so we gave up. There were two restrooms, one in the parking lot and the other near the cave, but both were unsanitary, so we recommend that you use them beforehand.
