Entry is by presenting a QR code, but there is a baggage check before that. So, although it was supposed to be a “line-free” Expo, we had to wait under the blazing sun for about 40 minutes before we could enter. In midsummer, I was afraid that some people might collapse… It might be better to enter first thing in the morning & take measures to prevent sunburn and rehydrate, or to enter in the evening. Veterans brought folding chairs.

The Grand Ring, visible upon entry, is one of the world’s largest wooden structures, with an inner diameter of 615 meters and a circumference of 2 kilometers. It is recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest wooden structure.

It was constructed using local timbers such as cedar and cypress, and blending traditional and modern technology. It is intended to be a shaded space and a symbol of global unity.

Even if you don’t enter the pavilion, it was worth the trip just to climb the Grand Ring and see the view.

You cannot enter pavilions that have not been reserved in advance, but we looked around to see where we could enter pavilions that did not require reservations.

We were able to enter the Holland Pavilion, which was one of the lottery winners. Upon entering, we were given an orb, and when we touched the wall at key points, it lit up, which made the children happy.

I was able to learn about the history and coexistence with water in the Netherlands in a way that was easy to understand due to the high level of visuals.

【EXPO 2025 Osaka Kansai Japan Life-size Gundam】

It utilizes the moving Gundam that was on display in Yokohama, with Expo exclusive parts added to the shoulders, underbelly, and shin. It was nice to see it without having to enter the pavilion.

Manager’s Comments

There are criticisms, but there are new things to go and learn. The buildings were unique and the cultures of many different countries were all in one place, so it was truly like “traveling the world”. There are not many events that can give children the chance to dream, so I highly recommend that you take your children to this event. For me personally, I was glad to be able to come to this once-in-a-lifetime celebration.
