【Heirin-ji Temple Gate and Buddha Hall】
The main gate, the temple gate, and the Buddhist temple are lined up in a straight line in typical Zen Buddhism style.
Both are historic buildings constructed in the Edo period and designated as Tangible Cultural Properties of Saitama Prefecture.
The origin of the name “Heirin-ji Temple” is said to have come from the way the temple’s complex appears and disappears in the flat forested area. The head temple is Myoshinji Temple in Hanazono, Kyoto.
【Heirin-ji Temple Hansobo Kanno-den (Half Monks’ Hall)】
Hansobo Kanno-den, who was enshrined as a branch deity from Hanzobo in Okuyama, is enshrined in the Hanzobo Kanno-den. Hansobo is a guardian deity of the mountain who resembles a tengu.
【Heirin-ji Temple Housho Pond and Benten Hall】
Benten is enshrined on the middle island of Houshoike.
Nishikigoi carp were released in the pond, which contrasted beautifully with the reflected autumn leaves.
【Heirin-ji Temple precincts】
The precincts of Heirin-ji Temple are said to cover an area of 130,000 tsubo. The vast forest, which still retains the beautiful green Musashino forest, is designated as a national natural monument.
The colorful maple trees on the grounds made me feel very festive. The contrast of autumn leaves was very beautiful. As a reminder, since the grounds are designated as a natural monument, it is prohibited to eat, drink, bring back living creatures, or cut down trees.

Manager’s Comments
I think it is one of the places in Kanto where you can feel Kyoto. It is a national natural monument, and the forest and garden are well organized and splendid. It is famous for its autumn foliage, and the emperor and his wife are said to have visited here. However, it is not so well known as a famous place for autumn foliage. It is a good place to visit!
