Kuroyama’s Three Waterfalls [Saitama]

【Kuroyama’s Three Waterfalls summary】

Kuroyama Santaki Falls is the collective name for three waterfalls and a sightseeing spot in the Kuroyama Prefectural Natural Park in Koshi-cho, Saitama Prefecture. It was opened as a center of the mountain religion Shugendo during the Muromachi period (1398-1573), and it seems that Eien, a Shugendo practitioner, established the Shugendo center “Yamamoto-bo” in 1398 (Oei 5), with the Kuroyama Kumano Shrine, which he opened himself, as the main shrine, Otoko-taki as Nachi-sha, and Tengu-taki as the shingu. It has long been a famous sightseeing spot along the Tojo Line.

We had grilled dumplings for 400 yen and shiitake mushrooms for 300 yen. Seeing the fire in the forest, smelling the wood, and smelling the freshly baked dumplings is the best luxury. There is also grilled rainbow trout to fill your stomach.

The road is a narrow unpaved trekking road that eventually joins the paved road at the main waterfall. Although the road is well maintained, it is slippery and should be visited with sneakers or other comfortable walking shoes.

Manager’s Comments

You can finish seeing it in an hour on the way there and back. There is nothing else but the waterfall, but the river and the waterfall basin felt cooler just by going there, perhaps due to the negative ions. It is only about an hour and a half from Tokyo by expressway, and I think it is the perfect place for a light hike, to see the waterfall, and to feel nature easily.
