【Motoise Naiku Kotai Shrine summary】
The Moto Ise Naiku Kotai Shrine is a shrine dedicated 54 years before the present Ise Jingu Shrine was established in Mie Prefecture, with two side shrines and 83 smaller shrines. The shrine is called “Moto ise Naiku Koutai Shrine” because the current Ise Jingu Shrine was originally enshrined here. The deities enshrined at the shrine are Amaterasu, Amaterukinoki-no-mikoto, and Amahataharahime-no-Mikoto.

The shrine is located at the top of a small mountain, and a relatively gentle approach leads up to the shrine. The shade of the trees and the breeze flowing along the approach are pleasant, and one feels as if one is entering a Shinto sanctuary.
A new sacred tree has been placed in the center of the approach to the shrine, where it has decayed and become a stump.

Like Jingu, it is a place with a deep and good atmosphere. The unique, slightly tense atmosphere made me feel tightened up.
The temple is modest, but the space is wide, protected by large trees, which makes it feel more solemn. The cedar tree of the Dragon Lantern is said to be 1,500 years old, giving visitors a sense of history.
Behind the temple, 83 great shrines from all over the country are enshrined as endowments.
There is also Ama-no-Iwato Shrine 700 meters away, which we also visited.

Manager’s comment.
The shrine at the end of a very quiet and secluded wood is like a place where God resides. It was really a wonderful place. The approach to the shrine and the shrine itself were both very beautiful.
